The APG Climate Action Plan gives an overview of our overall approach and approach per asset class on reaching our ambition of a Net Zero emissions portfolio by 2050 or sooner. 

The Sustainable Development Investments approach outlines how we integrate the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into our investment process. 

The Corporate Inclusion approach defines how we strategically select assets for our listed portfolio based on risk, return, cost, and ESG. We use a proprietary methodology to evaluate and categorize all potential investments using sustainability criteria and tools such as engagement and voting to encourage companies to improve their ESG performance.

The Exclusion approach covers all APG Asset Management investments. It reflects our clients’ policies on excluding investments in certain companies, products or the sovereign bonds of certain countries. For example, we do not invest in companies involved in the manufacturing of controversial weapons or tobacco or in the sovereign bonds of nations subject to UN Security Council and/or European Union arms embargoes.

The Corporate Governance & Voting approach outlines APG Asset Management's corporate governance principles and expectations, as well as how we exercise our voting rights at the annual general shareholders' meetings of the companies in which we invest on behalf of our clients.

Our approach to carbon footprint reduction and climate risk is outlined in the Carbon Reduction Target and Climate Risk Policy. As part of APG Asset Management’s commitment to the Dutch Financial Sector Climate Commitment, we are committed to disclosing the carbon footprint of all relevant investments. The Climate Risk Policy describes how we define, measure, manage and report on climate-related risks and opportunities, both at the overall client portfolio level and for specific investment strategies.
